Aotearoa New Zealand is building a future health system that will perform better for all of us.
Our health system reforms(external link) will deliver a health system that is simpler and more coordinated, allowing for better and more consistent care, and help shape a future health system that will support all New Zealanders to live longer and have the best possible quality of life.
The Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill outlines the core changes within the health reform, including the formal, permanent establishment of Health New Zealand from 1 July 2022.
Interim Health New Zealand operates as a Departmental Agency within the Ministry of Health - a temporary arrangement until the permanent entity comes into effect - and has been established to help drive the development of the permanent entity and its role within a newly transformed system.
This website is designed to keep you informed about the work of interim Health New Zealand in the lead-up to 1 July 2022.
You can find out more about the establishment and future role of Health New Zealand(external link) on the Future of Health website.
